Stair Dismount (Porrasturvat)
Porrasturvat - Stair Dismount is a game like no other. If you thought Highway Bowler was a good concept, wait 'til you see this! Let me ask you readers something: have you ever gotten a thrill from pushing somebody off stairs? Or perhaps you dreamed of such a thing? If you say no, you're lying. It is definitely one of the most common wants of humanity, and now you can do it without the chance of disfigured bodily organs! That's right. Porrasturvat is a game about pushing people off stairs, and quite addictive at that.
The game play consists of directing "pressure points" and then pressing "dismount" when ready. The harder your character hits, the more points you'll rack up. You can press keys 1-9 + 0 on your keyboard for a variety of different camera angles. Try to angle the pressure point so that your character falls in the most painful way possible. One thing that's personally fun for me is making the guy do a barrel roll or a flip. There's also a "force" bar, which is obviously the strength of the push. Eventually, there will be a way to submit your scores online. However, it has been postponed 'til a later version.
The graphics, combined with the physics, will definitely induce some imaginary pain. From whiplash, to bending your foot back to your chest, its all here. Your character doesn't have any facial expressions (heck, he doesn't even have a face), but that's not necessary in this game. The camera angles make this game look really good, too.
The essential screams and cracks cover the sound effects. It's very fun(ny) to listen to. The music is the usual repetitive beat that sounds cool when you first hear it, but slowly starts getting more and more annoying. Nothing spectacular.
The Bottom Line: Quite possibly the greatest idea ever for a game. Download it. It's definitely one of a kind.

Truck Dismount (Rekkaturvat)
Truck Dismount (Rekkaturvat) is the sequel to one of the best stress relievers of all time, Stair Dismount (Porrasturvat). This time, our lifeless, paste-colored friend has brought along a big truck and a nice hard wall to help him screw up his body in every which way possible.
Like Porrasturvat, there are a variety of options to adjust or change in order to inflict as much damage as possible. Instead of pressure points, however, you get to fiddle with the speed of the truck, whether or not to have a windshield, and where our little masochist lays or stands. You can also lay down one or two ramps, which are used to elevate your truck off the ground, or ricochet your truck between the ramp and the wall. There are seven camera angles you can choose from, varying from a moving, behind-the-wheel view to the classic, stationary side-view. One obvious camera angle that's missing is a view from the driver's seat, but there's enough unique angles that you won't be too disappointed.
One addition that I very much appreciate is the replay feature. Whenever you get a score into the high score list, your reply is automatically saved. Unfortunately, your parameters are not recorded, so your friends can still acuse you of cheating (argh!). It's also good to note that the online high score tables are up. They're divided into two categories: the top 20 scores in the last 24 hours, and the all-time top 200 scores. You may appreciate the online tables a bit more than I did, though, as I can't hold a candle to my virtual competitors.
The Bottom Line: Although the novelty factor isn't as high as Porrasturvat's - how many crash-the-car games have we seen since the invention of the Crash Dummy toys? - there's still enough fresh ideas that you'll get hooked. It does what a sequel is supposed to do; it adds new elements and flavor to the first installment, but you'll like them both for the same reasons.
