Fall of Atlantis
This game occurs 2 years after the first Atlantis game, and is even better. The red badguys with no name have apparently returned. They need a name. Not that this truly affects gameplay, but knowing your foe's name can help quite a bit.
The gameplay is just as that of Project: Atlantis, but with more creative levels. The second, 3rd and 4th levels are inside of a sea creature, with you battling antibodies. Then Atlantis is devastated, and there are lots of blue bodies floating around. No, you can't blow them up- I tried.
The controls are the same as the first game. A for thrust, S for rock cutter, and D for your main gun. The controls are, again, slightly unusual, though this works well.
This game is about as long as Project: Atlantis. That's around 10 levels. It may be slightly shorter, as the file size is smaller. Or the files are more compact. But this is a good game for such a small package, whatever size package that is.
Again, only one player. A two player mode could be interesting, but it doesn't exist, atleast I don't think. The unlockables might include something to that vein.
The graphics, however, are more refined, and the effects superior. Except for the Sea creature's mouth. That could use some work, as it's kinda' cheesy. Though what I love about the Atlantis series is the various ships. These are more detailed in this installment, much to my delight.
The sound is the same, except for the music. Some of the music tracks are a slight variation on the first game's music, such as the Atlantis Main Hub song. The music is actually quite nice, with good variation.
This game edges out Project: Atlantis, due to graphics, music, level design, and for the existence of a running story, even though the first game was not lacking much in any of these areas. A definite download.
