PacVenture
PacVenture is a nice variation on the classic pacman game with only 2D mazes. Here you start out in a city with roads, parks and more. The 3D top-perspective gives the game an idea of a virual reality pacman world which is pretty neat. As with the original pacman game you have the ghosts that you have to stay away from or you will loose a life if they get you. To pass a level you have to eat the blue dots (ALL the dots) and that will bring you to the next level. Some dots may be hidden behind trees etc. Here is a tip to pass the first level: Check all 4 paths leading to the water fountain for dots to eat. I preferred to turn off the background music so I could hear the sound effects better.

SnakeZ
I could line up many superlatives, but instead I will just
exclaim with wonder and astonishment: "I am highly addicted to SnakeZ!". This game has included all conceivable aspects of what you would like in a worm game, such as 5 game modes, 1-3 player modes, 72 cool levels, and professional FMOD-based music and sounds. With the many unique features for this particular game genre, I would almost call it an avant-garde game. So not surprisingly, I believe this is the best available freeware Worm/Snake/Nibble clone.

Sokoban 2K
Your goal is to push boxes to the "drop zone" without getting stuck between the boxes and the walls of corridors. When I played Sokoban 2K, the first game that came into mind was Boulder Dash. This game of 278 levels comes will an arsenal of neat features such as undo/redo option, window/full-screen mode, level editor and recording of gameplay. Sokoban 2K is another of many high-standard games produced by Aenigma Games. Highly recommended for the puzzle-minded!
NOTE: You should also download the Sokoban 2K patch for faster movements - download link on the author's homepage.

Super ACiD Block Attack
This game was formely entitled ACiD Tetris, but a legal letter from the game company of the original Tetris game on April 15th of 1999, forced Dungeon Dwellers Design to rename the game and later on release the game under the title Super ACiD Block Attack (in July of 2002). This re-release has the same codebase as ACiD Tetris but some bugs have been fixed. We have had ACiD Tetris listed on gamehippo.com since 1999, but the name change together with some bug fixes prompted us to re-post the game. Super ACiD Block Attack exhibits impressive graphics accompanied by a well composed digital sound track. NOTE: Even though this is a DOS game it has been tested in several Windows environments (eg WinXP, Win95).

Thruster 3000
Thruster 3000 is a fairly unique game that can probably be best compared to the Palm Pilot classic: SF Cave (It may have been around before Palm but that's where I know of it from).
The game takes place with you in a sphere shaped spaceship with four little sunction-cup shaped things on the top, bottom, and sides. The object of the game is to maneuver your spaceship between rocks and past projectiles in order to pick up the coin-like objects, which are spread through-out each level, and then make your way to the exit. Sounds simple, doesn't it?
But it's not simple at all because unlike some games where you can just maneuver yourself thoughtlessly, here you have gravity and momentum pulling you every which way. If you move to the left to much without slowing down and then try to go right, chances are you wil crash before your left-ward momentum ceases enough for you to move right. You are also constantly falling due to gravity's pull, so you must try to keep youself level, not to close to the ground but not too much upwards momentum also. Very challenging, but never "cheap".
The level design means alot to a game like this and this one nails it, but is also insanely challenging in doing so. Even the easy levels seem impossible at first. Slowly, however, you will begin to grasp the game and the levels won't seem insane, merely semi-insane. Do not play this game if you have a short fuse on your patience.
Thruster 3000 has excellent sound and even a fair amount of speech. The music is great, as well. Graphically, Thruster 3000 shines. The levels all have a nice look to them and are very colorful. All 2D goodness.
Bottom Line: If you're the kind of person who loves challenging games and won't back down after the 50th+ try, then this game is for you. If you get frustrated easily and often find yourself yelling at your screen and throwing your controller: Stay away.
Assuming that you are person type #1, there is nothing bad about this game and you should DEFINITELY give it a shot. Swollen, bleeding, bone-exposed thumbs WAY UP!
