  Ball Blazing Fantasy
Innovative in more ways than one, Ball Blazing Fantasy is a great game. Although it does borrow ideas from classic games, especially "Marble Madness" (which you will recognize immediately by the movement of your ball), it is in no way a remake. In fact, it is actually two separate games in one: 'Ball Blaze' and 'The Quest'. Both modes use the same gameplay elements, but encompass completely different ideas. 'Ball Blaze' is a sport similar to soccer. You take control of your ball (called "Helions" in this game) and try to hit an inanimate ball into the enemy's goal. In Practice mode, the enemy can be controlled by the CPU or your friends and family, or, more suitably, your enemies. In Tournament mode, your enemy will only be controlled by the CPU. And, in that you're all balls of some sort, there's plenty of bouncing - off walls, enemies, or the ball in play. There are also obstacles that must be avoided or used to your advantage. Unfortunately, the tournament mode is not nearly as long as I feel it should have been. I finished it within fifteen minutes. But don't let that deter you from downloading this game, as 'The Quest' more than makes up for it. 'The Quest' is the heart of BBF. It's a complete arcade game in which you collect minerals and avoid obstacles. You're only allowed to carry a set amount of minerals at a time, though, so you will have to backtrack and deposit them in a teleport more than once before finishing a level. Like any true arcade game, you have a limited number of lives, which you can lose by touching a harmful object or an enemy, falling off a cliff, or getting shot. Every time you get to a new world (every four levels, total of four worlds), you'll be given a password which can be used to start at that place next time you lose all your lives. And you will lose all your lives. Don't be fooled by the first few levels; this game is as tough as nails! True to its roots, the graphics are very reminiscent of old arcade games: heavily pixelated, but very colorful. In each mode, there are four different background themes (one for each world). Everything looks like it should. Sound is available, but I never listen to the sound anyway, and I have a tendency to lower my rating if I do, so I didn't. Yes, BBF has a story. But BBF is an arcade game, and like most arcade games, the story is terribly unimportant. Nevertheless, I feel I should briefly explain it: you are these things called 'Helions'. Helions are creatures that live in a different dimension called 'The Source,' though they are able to visit other dimensions if they please. They play a sport called 'Ball Blaze' in their free time. When they're not playing that sport, they're collecting minerals called 'The Life Force'. 'The Life' Force' is vital to their survival as it lengthens their life span and helps them enter new dimensions. The Bottom Line: In short, Ball Blazing Fantasy is a great arcade game, especially for fans of "Marble Madness" and the similar games. If a little more time and effort was put into the 'Ball Blaze' mode and a few bugs were touched up, this game could easily attain a 10/10 score. If you plan on playing the game on Win 2000/XP or using sound, please pay attention to the author's notes below: Note 1: "If you are running B.B.F. from Windows 2000 or Windows XP you NEED to allocate XMS memory! How? You must create a shortcut to BBF10.EXE and modify it. Just right click on BBF10.EXE and create a shortcut. Right click on the shortcut and access properties. In properties memory menu alter the amount of XMS memory to maximum offered." Note 2: "Try to load sbmidi.exe with DOS promt using sbmidi /e/3. This should enable you to turn on the MIDI background music if you are using Windows XP. Don't know how it works in Windows 2000. You shouldn't have problems with SB drivers in Windows 98 and 95."

  Billabong Racers
Billabong Racers is neat car racing game with funny animal characters as drivers. Before you can partake in the actual race, you need to pass the driving school. The competition consists of 4 tracks and 3 different classes (engine size). You will triumph if you manage to be amongst the top4 cars and collect 20 shrooms in each race. It's noteworthy that your car is equipped with a weapon! Unfortunately the computer-generated cars are lousy drivers and they don't provide much competitive excitement.

  Blackjack
This is a perfect PC adaptation of the classic Blackjack casino game. This game allows you to practice your skill without loosing any money! It's just plain fun. I have never seen a better blackjack game for PC, although one drawback is that the game provides no sound which would have enhanced the realism of a casino.

  Blokketiblok
Remember Pengo? Its concept was: destroy the enemies by pushing the blocks on the screen against them. If a block can move, it will slide in the direction you pushed it until it finds an obstacle; while, if it can't move due to an obstacle adjacent to it, it will be crushed. Around this simple rules a very fun game was built. And Blokketiblok is one of the best Pengo clones I ever saw. Graphics are clean, colorful and really cute, the standing animation of the character, Blokketi, is really fun; the enemy one-eyed balls, called Zzepallepa, are nice too. I love the music. Blokketiblok also adds new elements to spice up the original gameplay. Special blocks can explode, or split in parts - quite effective when there are more than one Zzepallepa targeted. Three special gem blocks give a considerable bonus if aligned. The various colors of the normal blocks aren't only an aestehtic issue: if you align two or more of the same color, they will be changed into golden globes, more golden globes when you complete a level, bigger bonus. But there's a drawback: golden globes can't be moved nor crushed by Blokketi (while the Zzepallepa can), so be careful or you could negate yourself the blocks you need to win. Every four levels there's a bonus one, slightly resemblant of Pacman. Last but not least, if you move towards a wall and press the Push/Crush key, a wave freezing every Zzapallapa close to that wall will be generated. Another nice touch is the randomness of the level order: you will play them in a different sequence every new game, though some levels show up more frequently than others. In general, Blokketiblok tends to become repetitive after a while. However, it's great fun to play, good for both a quick play and record-breaking sessions. So, I personally give this very good rating, but for some people it could be worth a point less, due to repetitiveness. Italian version of the game's site here.

  CRAFTS
CRAFTS is a fun 2-player deathgame game featuring great graphics, good sound effects and music, 5 different ships to choose from and more! Your goal is to destroy your friends ship as many times as possible in the amount of time that you specify. To aid you, you can collect various power-ups and weapons that randomly appear in the arena. The best one I came across was a homing nuclear missile! Each ship has different attributes and you should choose the one you want to use carefuly. For example, if your friend picks a fast, but weak ship, you should maybe choose a stronger, though slightly slower one. Both the graphics and sound are good, and really add to the gameplay. All in all, a great game, though a single-player mode would be nice.
