Dim
Dim is a difficult platform-puzzle hybrid that is original and enjoyable.
In Dim, you are a strange, dimension-shifting creature who is apparently released by a scientist when he is fired by the government. Then, for no apparent reason, the creature must survive many levels of spikes, killer fish, and other obstacles.
There are two dimensions you can be in. Dimension-shifting will sometime require good timing, as a platform may exist in one dimension, but not in another (ala Metroid Prime: Echoes).
This is an interesting edition to the game, and more features are introduced as you advance.
After a level is beaten, you are taken to a screen in which you pick the next level. Yes, there is an option here. This creates a sort of non-linear feeling.
The graphics in this game are smooth, the sound is of high quality. A real good game.

Dr Goo 2: The Plague
This is the second adventure in the must-have Dr Goo series. The lovable, little green blob sets out to save the world from a killer, man-made germ! Includes several levels of exceptional play, and even has a warp cheat! Awesome! A solid 9/10!

Dr Horst
This German creation called Dr Horst may seem trivial and without graphical refinement at a first glance - but you are being deceived! It's a perfectly balanced game with great playablity and highly mind-challenging excitment. The sparse graphical effects feel just right. So without further ado, grab this game with 20 levels of great fun! Needless to say, this is a clone of the classic Nintendo game called Dr Mario that came out in the late 80's.
NOTE: The game comes without instructions so here it is: Connect four of the same color with the ulitmate goal in mind to eliminate the colored "mini-monsters" on the board.

Fireworks II
Fireworks 2 is a lot like Fireworks. You still control a barrel of fireworks which can be shot at your enemies. The game still has nice graphics and sound. The main difference is that there are 5 new levels and the graphics are completely different. In addition, the game becomes progressively harder and health bonuses are occassionally given. Those who enjoyed Fireworks will probably like Fireworks II.

Hard Hat: The Rebellion
Hard Hat: The Rebellion like Megabot before it, is a side-scrolling platform-shooter which basically takes the gameplay from classic Capcom series Megaman and brings it to PC, while at the same time being different enough to stand alone as their own games. Well, perhaps the last statement only applies to Megabot, as Hard Hat is a game that is set entirley in the Megaman universe.
The plot basically centres around your character Hard Hat, a servant to the evil Dr Wiley, turning traitor and joing with the good guys to defeat his former master. Nothing new here.
Graphics-wise, theres not a great need to say much. The various sprites are well done, and look good, however backgrounds, while occasionally animated, still feel like they hark back to the days of the original NES console, often looking pretty dated.
Musically, it's a MIDI-lovers paradise, the bleeping tunes taking you back to the very early 90's, and effects are the cheerful bleeps and bloops of the original Nintendo clasics. This is probably my only major gripe with the game, as even though the authour has attempted to stick closely to the original Megaman, some more modern music would have given it just that little bit extra.
Gameplay is like digging around in your garage/attic/basement and finding that old console you thought you'd lost. Its the classic formula of getting from point A to point B, while jumping gaps, collecting powerups, and blowing up baddies. And for a concept thats about as old as I am, its still a load of fun. And unlike so many tributes (Sonic games in particular) Hard Hat actually plays just as well as its inspiration, which is a definate plus. However, potential downloaders beware, Hard Hat is very hard. Very, very hard. As in the original series, you have no structured levels and can beat them in any order you like, but completing the levels in the "right" order gives you a power-up which makes the other levels easier/possible. So what this boils down to is a process of trial and error as you try out different levels until you find the one thats slightly less difficult then the rest. However, all of the levels are challenging, so those who hate dieing over and over again should probably look elsewhere.
Overall, if you love old-school platforming fun, grab Hard Hat right away, but if you're the sort of person who refuses to touch 2D with a 20-foot pole, you'd best stay away.
Note: Due to the lack of nervous-systems in robots, Hard Hat is completely Kid-Safe.
