  Tom and Jerry
This game has been released as freeware by the game's programmer Tom and Jerry, which was released commercially a looong time ago by Hi-Tech Expressions, who have long since gone out of business, is perfect evidence that sometimes a game doesn't have to be new or cutting edge in any way in order to be fun. Tom & Jerry is a pretty simple platformer, composed of ten absolutely brilliantly designed levels, all of which are sure to challenge even the most acclomplished platform gamer. There are, additionally, 5 boss levels. Aesthetically, this game is pretty good considering that this was released 10 years ago (I even bought the game way back then), although the sound is noticeably bad stuff emitted by the PC's internal speaker. The nearly flawless platform gameplay is where this game really shines, though. Also note that the entire game is a mere 320 kilobytes, which will take less than a couple of minutes to download even with a 14k modem :p. Use the Number Pad (not the 'regular' arrow keys) to control Tom. 'Ctrl' jumps, 'Alt' shoots, and 'Spacebar' changes weapons, which vary from marbles to other little toys.

  Town Hall Toaster
Town Hall Toaster is by far one of the weirdest games I've ever seen! In Town Hall Toaster, you have to toast various foods, eject them out of a giant toaster, and then land them on some platforms circling a rotating town hall. If that isn't weird enough, the game takes place in the middle of a city! When you fail to land something on one of the rotating platforms, buses tow it away to something like, say, the Toast Graveyard. You have five pieces of food per level to toast, and the better you toast them, the more money you get. Each level has a certain total amount of money to acquire before the end of the game, which comes when you run out of food to toast. Toasting the food just right and landing it on the platforms is the key to success. Town Hall toaster is fun and addictive, and only has a few problems. Foods like the bagel are hard to see through the toaster, and the X-Ray button (which lets you see through the toaster) isn't much help either. Other than that, Town Hall Toaster is a great game.

  Warrior Dragon
Bent on the total annihilation of your race, the great Dragon Slayer has kidnapped all the young dragons. You are the only one who can defeat the Dragon Slayer, rescue the children, and restore peace to the land. Like your father, you are destined to be a Warrior Dragon. Are you up for the challenge? Although the graphics could definitely be better, this RPG is still a lot of fun! There are lots of characters to interact with, enemies to kill, and treasure to find. Whenever you conquer an enemy, you earn experience points (XP) and gold. When you have enough XP, you advance to the next level with increased strength. The gold is used to buy weapons, armor, magic potions, etc. Stop by the inn to recover your health (or drink a potion). Warrior Dragon includes a save/continue feature that allows a game to be saved where you stopped it. If using a gamepad/joystick: button 1 is for actions, such as talking to characters, searching for items, accessing the main menu, and selecting menu options. Button 2 is for canceling menus. If using the keyboard: the arrow keys are for direction and changing menu selections, Control is used as button 1, and Shift is used as button 2. For more info, including tips, see the README.TXT file.

  Wire Hang Redux
Wire Hang Redux is a very simple game, much like Icy Tower. Like Icy Tower, this game's goal is to climb up platforms, being careful not to fall below the reach of the screen. Unlike Icy Tower, in this game, you latch onto platforms with a grappling hook instead of jumping onto them. As you climb higher and higher, so does the screen. The screen scrolls as you move, not vice-versa. As you reach greater heights, the platforms you must latch onto will get smaller and smaller, making them more difficult to aim for with your grappling hook. This simple premise makes for a fun and addictive game, with gameplay on par with games such as Icy Tower and DOWN!!. However, the sound and graphics are a different story. Wire Hang Redux has no sound. None whatsoever. No music, not even the clank of metal against stone as your grappling hook reaches a platform. If it weren't for the excellent gameplay, this game would be very boring. Some good music and sounds could really add to the game. But they are absent. Wire Hang Redux's graphics are nothing special when you play in Windowed mode, and an eyesore in fullscreen. Many people like to play games in fullscreen, but I assure you that you won't even get the temptation when you play Wire Hang Redux. Despite the plain graphics and lack of sound, Wire Hang Redux's gameplay shines through in the end. And, if you like to play music in the background while you play games, the lack of music shouldn't be a problem. At only 1/3 of a megabyte, Wire Hang Redux is worth the download, especially if you're into simple arcade-style games.

  pongdeluxe
This game was created for the 32KB game competition at Mekka Symposium of 2001. The original game competition version of pongdeluxe is included (pongdeluxe_compo_version.exe) although you will probably want to play the slightly enhanced version instead. The game is full of cool and vivid 3D action both in terms of the actual gameplay but also in terms of the 3D perspective which is constantly changing - almost to the degree of dizziness. The game also have a few powerups for more variety. You need to first overcome the hurdle of learning how to correlate the movements of the paddle(s) with the glowing ball. It's definately not a walk in the park! Practice and then practice some more, and after you get a hang of the game it will be much more fun. If you play alone, it's probably a good idea to change the paddle options, not to 1-player mode but to 3-player mode and set the other players to be AI controlled. It's an easier way to play for a beginner. It's amazing how much fun you can cram into 32KB!
